Project Overview
This project expands a previously developed ternary magnetic polymer composite system (magnetic particles, fiber reinforcement, and modified polymer matrix) designed for flywheel energy storage applications. Building on prior work that demonstrated low-porosity, high-strength composites using short glass fibers, the project will replace glass fibers with carbon fibers to improve stiffness, strength, and multifunctional performance. The work includes adapting fabrication protocols, manufacturing new specimens by compression molding, and characterizing morphology and thermo-mechanical properties using SEM, X-ray tomography, and mechanical testing. Findings will be evaluated using suitable analytical/numerical techniques and disseminated through peer-reviewed publications and a conference paper
