Project Overview
This project develops electrochemical technologies to convert underutilized carbon resources into hydrocarbon-based fuels, supporting both environmental remediation and sustainable energy production. Building on our related FES work to transform plastic waste into fuels, this project aims to target biomass lignin as a renewable aromatic carbon reservoir. By using tunable organic redox mediators and polymer-coated anodes to improve oxidation control and depolymerization selectivity, the project advances next-generation pathways for producing energy-dense fuels from waste and renewable feedstocks.
