Profile
Dr. Xiaolei Wang is an associaite professor of chemical engineering at the University of Alberta (UofA), and also titled Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) in Batteries for Sustainability. He received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), M.Sc. from Tianjin University (TJU), and B.Sc. from Dalian University of Technology (DUT). He was recruited to Concordia University in 2017 as a tenure-track assistant professor before joining UofA, for his ground-breaking research on nanomaterials for clean energy technologies. The research themes of Dr. Xiaolei Wang center upon the rational design and development of novel advanced energy materials and their applications in energy-related technologies including lithium-ion (and other alkaline ions) batteries, lithium-sulfur (Li-S) and other lithium-metal based batteries, rechargeable aqueous batteries, supercapacitors, and electrocatalysis systems including metal air batteries, water electrolyzers, fuel cells. His research group focuses on the correlation of energy materials' electrochemical and electrocatalytic behaviours with their microstructures. Dr. Wang has authored more than 110 papers in top-level peer-reviewed international journals, which have been cited almost 7,000 times with an high h-index of 44. Dr. Wang was awarded Canada Research Chair (2023-2028), Faculty of Engineering Mid-Career Research Award (2023), Petro-Canada Young Investigator Award (2018) and Concordia University Research Chair (2019).
