Project Overview

The primary objective of this research project is to develop state-of-the-art high-performing additively manufactured ceramic insert structures that can be used to reduce current carbon clogging issues occurring in methane pyrolysis hydrogen production reactors, thereby improving reactor longevity and production efficiencies.

Our research objective is accomplished via high throughput predictive design and modelling, advanced manufacturing, and experimental testing in both controlled laboratory and real-world reactor environments.

When completed, our cutting-edge research on materials development for future energy systems will significantly advance sustainable hydrogen energy production in Alberta and Canada.

The project is in collaboration with Innova Hydrogen and Lithoz America, and supported by Sturgeon County and the Edmonton Region Hydrogen Hub.
