Sarah is Co-Coordinator of the Future Energy Systems Resilient Reclaimed Land and Water Systems theme. She provides administrative and technical support to the theme. She assists with day to day management of the theme’s research including finances, human resources, workshop and meeting organization, laboratory and field resources, safety, data management and reporting. Sarah also assists with research and prepares papers for theme projects as part of Dr M Anne Naeth’s research team.
Sarah obtained a BSc from the University of Guelph in natural resource management and plant ecology and completed an MSc in land reclamation at the University of Alberta. As a research assistant and program manager for Dr Naeth’s land reclamation and restoration ecology program over the past 20 years, she has managed numerous industry, not for profit and government grants including the Helmholtz-Alberta Initiative (HAI). She manages the reclamation laboratories, provides logistical and technical support to graduate students, analyzes data and prepares technical reports and scientific publications. Her current research interests focus on long term recovery of soil and plant communities following disturbance, indicators of reclamation success and use of soil amendments and native species for revegetation.
